Lawful Access Bill (C-30) Treats Law Abiding Citizens like Criminals
Many Canadians are rightfully disturbed about the Conservative government's latest misguided legislation, which would give authorities the power to access their personal information without a warrant at any time, for any reason.
Bill C-30 is a compilation of three bills from the last parliamentary session (C-50, C-51 and C-52). The bill requires telecommunication service providers, like internet providers, to provide designated authorities (police forces, RCMP, CSIS and the Commissioner of Competition) with access to the personal information of their subscribers.

Harper’s Proposed Changes to Old Age Security
I've heard from many people in Ottawa Centre who are deeply concerned by the recent statements by Prime Minister Stephen Harper that major changes are coming for Old Age Security (OAS) and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).
New Democrats have been very clear in the House of Commons that the government should live up to its commitments to protect and ensure retirement transfer payments to individuals. It's not just seniors, but future generations of Canadians who are worried about Harper's attack on retirement security.
With the cost of living continuing to rise as well as unemployment, many Canadians are justified in fearing they won't have enough money to retire.
