Over the past few weeks, I have received many e-mails and letters from concerned citizens following a tragic cyclist accident in October. I thank you for your e-mails and letters concerning cyclist safety in Ottawa and I very much appreciate you taking the time to voice your opinions with me on this important issue.

Statement by Paul Dewar on the passing of Barbara Ann Scott

"I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Barbara Ann Scott – a great Canadian athlete, an inspiration for all Canadians and a fellow Ottawan.

Her many contributions to Canadian athletics, through her successes on and off the ice, and her dedication to her hometown of Ottawa have made her a great role model for all those who wish to pursue their passions and to give back to their communities.

I extend my sympathies to Ms. Scott's friends and family. While we will miss her dearly, her memory will live on through the triumphs of those that she touched, encouraged and inspired."
