It’s pre-budget time in Ottawa. Media reports are mostly focused on partisan advantages, brinksmanship, negative ads and campaign readiness. But people in our community want action on the real challenges facing us, like affordability, retirement security, and environmental degradation.
Haiti’s post earthquake woes are now exacerbated by a massive outbreak of cholera and a questionable election process. Haitians’ frustrations could manifest in violence and further destabilization of the country. This is an emergency which requires a much stronger response from countries like Canada.

A disturbing trend is emerging in the treatment of our public servants by the current Conservative government.
Of late, the government has attacked public servants whose advice does not conform with their ideology or opinion on an issue.
